I got it, but was dissapointed somewhat, games more hyped over graphics than gameplay, id rather stick to CS source and UT.

out of Q4 at the store, so I got FEAR... cost me only 500 bucks, yup das right, gunna need another 450 dolla vid card to play it like it should be played... for Christ sakes Jim! I'm not a doctor!... ack

FEAR= (HL+DOOM) x LSD

if UT is the shiz for you then FEAR may not be worth buying, wait and get it from a friend

From screenshots I saw, FEAR looked like most interesting game than Q4. id made a big mistake IMHO trying to revive Q2 on Doom3 engine. Idea is just too old. :( And most likely q4 will be a disappointment in multiplayer department.

I know you were joking, but $1,200 is a little much.

I could build you a (reasonably) top-of-the-line computer*, right now, for around a grand. And it would be upgradable for years to come. *No case, no monitor, no mouse/keyboard.

I would not waste money on SLI 6600. If you look at charts, Dual 6600 works slower than conventional 6800GT. Looks like 6800GT barely handles FEAR. Also I would not waste money on Corsair and other branded RAM. Because all RAM come from the same factories of Samsung, Micron or Hynix. Overclocking of RAM can give you 2-3% boost of performance but also may give you 200% more headache. Mushkin & Co rule the world. :)

If you need any OC'ing advice (I assume you would plan on OC'ing that weak ass 6600), you should talk to Weee. He is a pro! He has a pretty cool thread somewhere on overclockers club but if you are thinking about OC'ing in anyway, he's the man to talk to!

If I tried to run Quake 4 on my system... it would explode.
